With over a year to go before election day, Democratic activists are already working hard to set the groundwork for winning back the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterms. However, the task is harder than many realize. Democrats must make a net gain of at least 24 seats to win back a majority. While tens of districts have been identified as targets, Republicans hold seats in 23 districts won by Hillary Clinton in 2016. One is these districts is Pennsylvania’s 7th. And one PA-07 candidate who might help Democrats take back the House in 2018 is Molly Sheehan.
Molly is a scientist, mother, and proud progressive challenging Republican incumbent Patrick Meehan in a crowded Democratic primary of five candidates, including State Senator Daylin Leach.
After speaking with Molly about her candidacy and district over the summer, we decided to catch up with her on the podcast. to discuss the #MeToo movement, her intersectional platform, and the progressive future of the Democratic Party.
